    C5 shock rebuild

I have a customer with a C5 ('99) that is getting shock fault alarms. Does anyone know of a shock rebuild, kit or gear replacement??

Bilstein offers a rebuilding service for most of their shocks. Unfortunately, 1999 Corvettes did not use Bilstein shocks and Delco does not offer a rebuilding service for their shocks. I know of no kits for repair of these shocks or associated parts (except complete new shocks and associated system component parts, if applicable). To find out if such things exist (which I doubt), I would suggest contacting a Corvette parts vendor like Mid America, Corvette Central, or Ecklers. They're pretty "into" the C5 and C6 cars.

these must be the electronic controlled shocks and if you don't replace them with the same type shock you will get a fault code and the top speed will be limited. i have heard there is a company the sell a electronic device that fools the computer so you can use standard much cheaper shocks. try googling magnetic controlled shocks bypass.

This is for one of my customers where I think that the best way to do this is to rebuild the shocks rather than fool the computer.
I seem to remember a magazine article where there is a rebuild by replacing the nylon gear at the top of each shock that cycles each time the car is started. This rebuild kit was single digit dollars not four digits each.
        Any help would be appreciated.
