On my 1966 backup switch connector behind the ballast resistor. What is the "release" process of this connector from the harness??? I have tugged and probed, but am afraid I will hurt 40+ year old harness, thus this question.

There's no locking feature on that connector; just work the two pieces back and forth and pull them apart (pulling on the plastic connector bodies, not on the wires).
