    1994-96 Serpentine Belt

    Need some help here.

The 1994-96 Judging Manual calls for a Serpentine Belt #10186198 for the LT1's. The Chevrolet Parts Manual ( I know here we go again with the Parts Manual Stuff) states:
    1994-1996 LT-1--10230259.

    Further the Parts Manual stated:

1993 -First Design --10186198 (Same as 94-96 Judging Manual and the 92-93 Judging Manual)
    1993-Second Design--10230259

    Question:
    What Belt for the 1994-1995-1996?

If the 1994-96 judging guide says that a GM #10186198 belt is correct for 1994-96 Corvettes, then the judging guide is incorrect. Period.

Belt GM #10186198 was used for 1992 to early 1993 Corvettes with LT1 and no other applications. This belt has ribs on both sides. It could not be used on later C4 Corvettes which had pullies designed for use with a belt with ribs on only one side.

Belt GM #10230259 was used for late 1993 to 1996 Corvettes with LT1 and 1996 Corvettes with LT4. It has ribs on only one side and is "smooth" on the other side.

Thanks to Joe, we have the numbers straight.

Now can anyone out there provide me with a photo of the markings on their original serpentine belt still on a LT1 94-96? The markings on my belt are gone. I was able to purchase a replacement belt (10230259) and I wanted to see how they match up with an original.

        As usual, thanks in advance.

What is this 10236001? The belt you have pictured is, I presume, the replacement that you purchased and it's marked with the original number.

One other thing: on any of these belts that have been in use for awhile, the printed information on the "flat" side of the belt is going to be worn. Unlike most V belts (except 1969-74 big block with C-60), for most serpentine belts, the "flat" side of the belt is in contact with pullies.

Joe, old age, bad eyes and too many part numbers going through this head.
The belt shown is the replacement belt 10230259.

            Thanks

...too many part numbers going through this head? If you think that's bad, just imagine what it would be like to be me!

Charlie my 96 LT4 still has it's original belt but there are no markings on it.

There are two pulleys that are turned by the smooth part of the belt, where any markings would be, and if there were any they've been rubbed off. I would think that any car run for any significant time would have had its markings rubbed off, too.

I have a replacement belt that is identical to the one you've posted.

EDIT: Upon further review ... I did find a few remnants of markings, but they are badly deteriorated and VERY hard to see. All that's left is part of the yellow square and the numbers "152" and "1596 4".

                    Re: 1994-96 Serpentine Belt

Pat, thanks for your response. We are both in the same ball park (27,000 miles on my 1995 LT1). This is why I asked if someone with an original belt still on the Corvette photography the belt. Your input explains why my original belt has no markings.

I have approached an individual with a 1996 LT1 (4,500 miles) to get a photo and Tom Hendricks is trying to help out also.

I do appreciate your time in this issue and I will post the photo of the original belt if and when I get one.
