I have an original condition 093 distributor that has the correct round magnet, but it is in two pieces. Knowing little about magnets in general, can this be repaired? If not, I seem to recall reading somewhere that these magnets can be used even if cracked. Does anyone have any experience with that?

I would not even attempt to repair it. I believe that new reproductions of these magnets are now available. I'd contact NCRS member Dave Fiedler at TI Specialties. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

As a direct answer, no it won't work. I'd second Joe's idea to contact Dave.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: Cracked TI distributor magnet, will it work?
Larry, As mentioned your cracked distributor "magnet" is history.
Be careful though if you should come apart a service replacement one that has the lamp cord as two separate wires held together with tape every few inches.
Dave Fiedler taught me long ago that they have issues. The original wiring is made like a lamp cord. Meaning the two white wires are fused together. One of the wires has a green stripe. The connector is off white. Repro connectors are incorrect as they are clear plastic.
Maybe save your original connector and use it over if necessary. JD- Top

Re: Cracked TI distributor magnet, will it work?
Not necessorily, the coil assemby fails as well and can develop an open winding condition under heat that is maddening to diagnose. That is why GM sold the magnet and coil as an assembly, not as components. Oh, and by the way, the new reproduction assemblies have the correct opaque connector and the magnet is unbreakable, as well as stronger than the original part.- Top
