    Bushings - Kits - Polyurethane - Rubber

I am pretty green, but have lots of questions.

The current one is if I should replace my bushings with rubber or Polyurethane? Then where should I go to find a complete kit, so I don't nickle and dime myself to death?

The 67 is a driver, but I want to keep it up and maybe some day do or have done an off frame restoration.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give!

As one that tried the polyurethane, my vote is to stay with original type replacement parts.

Ted, if you are a autocross type the urethane bushings is the way to go. But if your a street driver, Rubber is the way to go, they tend to have a little cushion and results in a better ride.

I'm with Jim. You are better off with the original type rubber bushings.

I would not recommend the Eckler's kits. My kit came with minimal instructions and the wrong size in some cases. Then I had to special order the trailing arm bushings and the setting tool, while the car sat in the shop for a week. The shipping and shop charges took care of any savings on the bushings.

Then a few years later, one of the front A-arm bushings fell out. What a PITA to replace one bushing.

Haven't ordered anything from Eckler's since.

          Ted,

I went the Poly route, gas shocks and all when I wanted to push it around a bit when I was younger.

I recently went back to the original rubber and I am really happy with the ride and it still handles very well.

gmpartsdirect.com has the rubber bushings for the rear spring and sway bars but they come boxed as ten for the rear spring and four for each sway bar when you only need two. Their shipping cost is high if you only purchase one item. If you have a shopping list of several parts the shipping cost is fine.

Find a friend and order, the stuff is good, just difficult for one car.

          Ken
