You have heard the Quote "IF YOU SNOOZE YOU LOOSE!!"

Kind of hard to snooze and loose though on a POP, who else would buy it but the owner of the car ???

By the way, how did this guy find you ???

I think the price is low, some people may buy it just for wall paper or maybe to resell to the next owner if you don't want it.
I bought a 65 396 coupe and noticed someone on ebay selling the origional owners pack to the same car I owned, the patch, credit like card with origional owners nane and paper work as it was sent from Gm, for my car on ebay.
Price was $1400, I barganed it down th $1200 and hit the buy it now. I am sure I over paid but this was the origional packet from gm that the origional owner sold on ebay a few years ago because he lost track of the car

            Jack,
Original or reproduction, the price is very good and you definitely want it!! Don't give it another thought and consider it a blessing. By the way, is it the protect-o-plate alone, or does it come with the warranty book? If the warranty book is part of the deal, then it went from a good price to a steal. I'm in the C2 Registry, too... but he didn't call me .

            Congrats,

I agree. One for a different car is worthless. My neighbor asked me about the 1966 POP, warranty book and owners manual that she just bought for .50 at a church rummage sale. I posted here and looked on the registry. The car is probably long gone.
There was some jackazz on E-bay listing a POP for $1500 but wouldn't reveal the VIN until after the sale.
I suppose a POP documenting a VERY rare car could possibly be worth a lot of money but for your run of the mill SB car, I wouldn't pay very much for one.

BUT, there are people (like this guy offering to sell the POP) who buy any documentation they can find in the hopes of eventually selling it to the correct owner. So they do have value to some people other than the current owners of the cars. And the price is bound to go up as time goes on, when, perhaps, the next owner will buy it.

I (respectfully) disagree -- ie. not worthless; it provides some sense of connection with the time and place, and if the price is reasonable, its value lies in the example, and knowing that it is correct for some (even maybe a long gone) Corvette.

to me that is a rip-off and those that buy just feed the greedy people out there who only buy this stuff to make money, whatever happened to you give it to the guy who has the car, back in the day I guess because I gave those away when I found one to the current car owner. by the way, if you want his name look on corvette forum where the topic was addressed. my take is to each his own and if you are happy go for it, but buyer beware.

                        Re: POP Verification

Remember "THAT GUY"who posted all them VIN numbers?
You will never believe what happened.
He sent me an email saying he had my POP/Warranty Booklet and a New Vehicle Inspection/Adjustment Schedule, New Car PreDelivery Inspection Card, with a ladies signature.

He had found my VIN on the C2 Registry.

Pictures followed, telephone conversations and emails flowed back and forth.
I never let it be known that the Original owner found me by accident at a local car show, plus I never put the Original Owners name on the Internet.
Then a few months later a couple of guys were looking at my sign board at another local show and noticed the Chevy Dealership on there and they both were employed at same dealership.
Now I'm stoked, we talked for an hour or so about the dealership because this was the dealership that my car was purchased from. The reason I know is that the OO told me.
We exchanged /numbers and i thought that was it.
So when the emails showed up and the Original Owners Name was on the papers, my jaw hit the floor.
I immediately called the OO and asked if he lived on such and such street, he said yes, i asked what his wifes name was and it was on the service part of the booklet.
I also called one of those guys that seen my sign board and forwarded the pics, he said the lady on the Predelivery card was the secretary and she filled out the card for the new owners.

Now my car does not have the original engine or trans but i really don't care.
It's just exciting to find some history about my care through the
                        Corvette Forum/c2 Registry/NCRS Boards.

So now I'm the proud owner of the above items

These are some fascinating dates to me about my car and the chain of events.
                        Build date....................12/14/65
                        Delivery Date to dealer..12/22/65
                        Sold to OO...................7/29/66
                        I moved here in.............6/20/66
                        I purchased car on.......12/21/74

"THAT GUY", Scott Oliver owner of www.Jettvettes.com never led me to believe otherwise, he was straightforward with me on the description of the items. If he contacts you and says he has something that you might be interested in, jump on it because it is the real deal. He was also willing to negotiate on the price.

                          Jack,
fantastic story and a sharp car by the way too!

Here is an original California car - 194376S114263

Anyone know where the car is?

Does Cali have crunch records if a car has been totaled?
