Genuine GM or Reproduction - Help

I am getting ready to have my bumpers rechromed. The Bumper Guards/Bumperettes on my car (1960) are made from two pieces and have a sharp edge and I can see a weld seam on the inside. According to the Corvette Central webside, the correct bumperettes were formed from one piece and have rounded edges. I can find no numbers or other identification on these.

If mine are already reproductions, then I might as well replace with other reproductions as this will as cheap as having these rechromed.

Can anyone tell from the photo if these are reproductions?

    Thanks,

    Don Harris

Don, I think those are repros........

I believe the telltale sign is also where the bumperette is welded to the support. No books or originals in front of me, but I recall there should be 4 short welds there, or was it 6, evened out on both sides? Most repros were made with the welded area along the entire length of the attach point on both sides.

I'd feel better if someone else confirmed my thoughts before you make a decision though.....

Yours are the early reproductions and would not pass judgeing. Corvette Specialties of Maryland sells dead on repros. Call Brian at 800 638 6450.
