Thanks, Jack. I went back and found the thread that I was thinking of, and the comment (#14) was actually from you.
I am considering installing belts in my 64, for safety reasons (and my old age). The car was not originally equiped with belts and I am very, very opposed to installing anything on the car that it did not come with. Since belts were offered as an option, it appears that I have to install "correct" belts. Sure doesn't look like the rules in this case care about safety.
