    Front Spring Finish?

I found in the archives that using CRC SP400 on the springs would give the correct finish. I finally found some and sprayed a small piece of metal to see what it looks like first. A couple of questions, do you spray the sp400 on and let it sit and then rub the excess off with a rag? What is the finish supposed to look like, it appears it will be a goldish brown colour. The springs I purchased were a natural steel, bit on the shiny side but have rusted from sitting for a couple of years. Can i give them a light bead blast to clean them up? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. My car is a 1971 BB car.
    Thanks

    Re: Front Spring Finish?

I used glass bead media on mine. Then I immediately wiped them down with os-pho. The CRC SP-400 should be sprayed on lightly and evenly, then allowed to dry somewhat...it never does harden completely. What it does is prevents rust and can easily be removed with any solvent. I have seen 20 year old restorations with natural steel finishes preserved this way.
