    67 Seat Bun Foam

I purchased a new set of seat foam buns. These appear to be a product of CORVETTE AMERICA. (Packaging logo). They are about 2" thicker than originals ( I would expect some additional bulk due to aging of originals but not this much) and make it literally impossible to stretch the new covers (AL KNOCH) over.

    Has anyone had this problem?
I didn't purchase buns from Knoch due to a better price elsewhere. Probably a dumb idea......

It has been a problem with all of them for 30 years. Just another thing they never got right and never fix.

      Steve,

I have my new Corvette America 67 seat foam sitting in a box in my garage from when I redid my seats and covers about 4 years ago.

They are hard and oversized. I actually tried to fit them into the seat cover bottoms, and almost dislocated my shoulder. The foam backs were not too bad.

On the seat bottoms, I gave up and reused my sagging originals, augmenting them with 3/8" camping foam pad around the edges. They came out looking good and I've gotten full credit on the seats since.

        Re: 67 Seat Bun Foam

        My real question is:
Is Corvette America the only source of 67 seat foam.

Most vendors have photos of their foam (which appear to be all the same) on their websites. Al Knoch does not have a photo.

I guess I'll call Al Knoch and see if their foam source is the same as the rest of the vendors and how they handle this.... possibly t******* the excess foam for a more reasonable fit.
