Re: '62 Quality Control marks on tie rods?
The suspension paint marks are "identification" paint marks. A quality control or inspection paint mark for example is on the pinion nut to indicate it's been torqued. Attached is the paint ID chart from the 56-7 JM. Information was assembled from Chevrolet engineers and Bowtie cars. Don't know about how it carried forward to 62's.
