1967 L79 Distrubtor ID Band Question

Hi Everyone,

A question about the distributor ID band - 1111196 from my '67 L79 coupe. My VIN is 05818, engine stamped V1205 HT (Dec 5th) and a body dated E09 (Dec. 9th) How irregularity would it be that the ID band is dated 6 E 23, which I assume is May 23, 1966?

I'd think that's not "typical", as it's unlikely that a distributor would sit around Flint V-8 for seven months that went on 28% of Corvette engines. It's not impossible, just unlikely.

Kurt, my early car (#183) also had a REALLY early distributor. L79 here too.

If you want to know the date, send me an email or something and I'll look it up when I get home.

Here ya go. Believed to be original distributor from my car, VIN # 183, Sept 7th, 1966 build date.

L79 4 speed, power brakes is the only significant option.
