    66 Powerglide fluid substitute?

My 66 Powerglide trans has a leak. The selector shaft I think. I need to top it off. But I can't find any Type A which is what I believe is the correct fluid type. Is one of the modern types Ok (or better) to use in a 66 Powerglide as a substitute?

You can use DEXRON or DEXRON II. They are downward compatible to Type A.

However, if you still have the old Type A in the trans, you should consider a complete changeout after all these years. You"ll then be good for another 20-30 years.

      Larry,
Thanks for the info. Yes, I'm not sure exactly what is in there but whatever it is, it has been there for at least 20 years.
