Just installed a new gas pedal assembly and noticed that the opening in the upper throttle shaft is approximately 1/2" higher than the cable opening in the cowl. All the bolt holes lined up and the linkage works well but the darn thing worries me. I don't have the old gas pedal assembly to check against the new one because this car is a total rebuild. I wonder if the cable will quickly wear out. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Throttle issue on 72
Hi Bruce,
I was hoping perhaps the plate in the cowl was installed up-side down. (That would drop the hole 3/4" or so). But it's goof -proof and can only be installed one way. The arm on my 71 allows a straight shot into the hole.
If you'd like me to meaure the length of the throttle arm above the pivot, so you can verify the length of yours, let me know, I'd be glad to.

Re: Throttle issue on 72
Hi Bruce,
I'm sorry for the delay! I actually had a couple of days of work!
The pedal arm is 6 3/8" long from the center of the pivot point to the center of the hole for the throttle cable.
Hope this helps you!

Re: Throttle issue on 72
Alan,
Thank you for taking the time to measure your pedal arm. I measured my arm yesterday and it measured 6 3/8" inches from the pivot point to the end of the arm as well. It measures approximately 1/2" less from the center of the cable-hole in the end of the arm to the pivot point. All the barackets bolt in perfectly and the throttle cable mount is in a fixed position on the cowl but the cable-hole in the arm appears to be about 1/2" too high. I think this setup up would lead to the cable prematurely wearing out. Due to the rotation at the pivote point, the cable and arm are in perfect alignment when the pedal is pushed to the floor. Weird problem. Thanks again for helping out.
