Might be a good idea to start with a 1/2"(?) wrench. That would be to remove the driver seat, thereby enabling you a little better access to the back side of the speedo head. You'll likely want to drop the steering column too. You're gonna LOVE this job. I came away cross-eyed after my turn. I had a hell of a time seeing the connection, let alone getting the wrench on it properly.
As I said in an earlier post on the subject, the replacement of the trip odo reset cable is one of the most memorable/difficult jobs I've done in the 5 years I've owned my car...
