Hi all, I'm replacing my Vac hoses. July '69 with coffee can WWdoor actuator. My old hoses had green to the front nipple but new hoses have red to the front . What gives?
Thanks as allways,Graeme.
My original April '69 car had red to the front of the coffee can, green to the rear. The new set from the doc was the same. Sounds like somebody before you switched the hoses around.
Thanks Patrick and Dennis. I did buy mine from the good Doctor and didn't think he would screw up. I just wondered because I saw another the same in one of the threads.
Cheers,Graeme from OZ. (P.S. don't tell Geoff I questioned him )
In general, the red hose attaches to the back of the unit, i.e. the side facing the engine. The green hose attaches to the front of the unit, ie. the one facing the grille.
That is why many original actuators have a red dot on the back just above the elbow connection - it signifies that the red hose attaches there.
I hope that helps.

When my 69 was unrestored, I found the green stripe hose on the engine side. The red hose will not reach the nipple on the engine side. My 69 is made about a week after his car. It may be anomaly but I feel fairly confident that it was the way our two cars were assembled. Joe
