I dropped the fuel tank on my '72 LT-1 w/Air COUPE and found a tank sticker adhered with factory glue. The one tank strap was underneath part of it, so it had to be factory. The problem is, it's not mine! Its for a '72 Corvette CONVERT with different paint and interior. I couldn't make out any equipment or options. But the order date and expected production dates were identical to what mine should be, based on my car's production date (from the Trim plate). All other numbers and dates match on the vehicle, so I'm convinced that it's a mistake and I have no doubt that my car is the real deal. I've retrieved gas tank stickers from previous Corvettes I've owned, but this is the first time I found a wrong one! I was told that it happens. Sometimes there was no tank sticker put on by the factory, or a wrong one, or multiple ones. Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Tank sticker mistakes common?
Thanks guys. This give me peace of mind anyway. The give away that this was my original tank sticker is when I saw the missing piece of sticker still attached to the passenger side tank strap, with that old thick factory glue stuck to it. That told me that it was slapped on at the factory over the tank, after the strap was in place.- Top
