I am nearing the time to install new carpet in my 65' coupe. It is being painted now, my question is, what is the best material to put down first to achieve some level of sound and heat barrier? I have the interior out and down to bare glass inside.I don't want the material to be to thick so as to give me grief installing the jute and carpet. Any experiences out there with my interior would be welcome. Thanks

Re: 65' coupe carpet underlayment
Lots of folks have their favorite. I used Dynamat. I'm very happy with the way it when down, and the results on heat and noise reduction. I also put it in the doors and above the headliner. Does a great job keeping out the Arizona heat.

I went to A upholstery shop that the hot rodders use and got some material with a silver linning and some other material on the other side. About 3/4 in. thick worked great and un detectable. Tom- Top
