    Adhesive remover

I need to remove weatherstripping from my car which was incorrectly placed by a previous numbskull. Instead of placing the weatherstripping on the trunk, hood and deck lid, he placed it on the surface underneath (trunk, deck etc). If I leave it the way it is the car will not be protected (haha LOL) from water possibly entering the car at these areas if the car was outside during a rain. The chance of that happening is slim but could occur.
Is there a product on the market that will remove the adhesive without or with minimal damage to the paint underneath? I think I know the answer but it is worth a shot to ask.

Oh, Thank you so much!! Now for a really stupid question. What is a "jobber"? Is it just an establishment that sells automotive paint?

Valeria, DW gave you some bad info as must be hitting the 'shine again.

3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. 08984 1 US Qt. Lethal fumes though I buy it at Car Quest. Nice can right in front of the screen here.

Yeah I know state of the art restoration mean you are supposed to put nice hood rubber and door rubber on with 6" brush but I absolutely hate that. The 3M stuff will remove a lot of the sloppy glue. JD

          John,
That is excellent news. I know Car Quests and I was worried about the "jobber" thing, no offense implied Dick.

Again, I'll say you guys are the greatest. I wish I had known about this organization from your start. It would have saved me $$tons.

John, I forgot to reprimand you for "knocking down" on a fellow North Carolinian. We here in NC can legally make a specific volume of "shine" for personal consumption and the "art" of making the stuff is really still alive here.

I don't do it myself but I have had a swig.

No wonder you don't know what Jobber is.

Meanwhile maybe there are two types of 3M adhesive remover as Farmer DW usually has his numbers straight.
By the way the adhesive cleaner is a flammable liquid and the vapor is extremely strong. I have been working hard getting rid of all flammable liquids in my shop.
Just passed an Insurance inspection and the guy doing it looked at a ton of cans I have here and said I must have known what he would be looking for. (Yep)
Do you know nice insurance guys like to see the caps on the paint spray cans??? I had that covered too as was tipped off.
They also inspect fire extinguishers for current tags. No problem.
Course you didn't ask any of this. Sorry for getting carried away. Shoulda been in bed an hour ago. Take care Valerie. John

Thanks guys, I'll pick up one of the three this weekend and see if I can do no harm to the paint.
