454 startup after not running for a year

Work I've been doing on my '72 has taken a lot longer than expected. That job thing keeps getting in the way... plus a case of while-I'm-at-it-itis...

Anyhow - by the time I'm ready to roll again, it will have been close to a year since the engine was run. I changed the oil right before the last time I ran it. Do I need to do anything special? I've read in other threads that for engines that have sat for a long time that it's a good idea to remove the plugs and directly inject oil into the cylinders.

Make sure the battery is in good condition and fully charged, and make sure there is fuel in the tank.

Without touching the throttle pedal crank the engine for two five second intervals so the fuel pump fills the fuel bowl. As an alternative, use a syringe to fill the bowl through a bowl vent.

Now just do a normal cold start (I'm assumng the auto choke system is working properly) - pump the throttle twice and wait about 30-60 seconds for the liquid fuel from the accelerator pump to evaporate in the manifold. Crank the engine and it should fire right up.

Since the oil was fresh from that last time it was run, the clock doesn't start on it until it's back in service.
