Black paint surrounding Control wheels for ventilation

C3-Consel area-- Some of the black paint in the area surrounding the conrol wheels for Astro ventiliation has come off. The border like area of the controll wheels is painted flat black and is begining to slough off. The area from which paint has sloughed is chrome like. Can this border area be painted to an acceptable condition? If possible what type of paint and method. thanks, Tom

Krylon 5 ball semi-flat black is a good match.

        Hi Tom,
I've had good success using a very sharp x-acto blade to 'slice' the paint off the raised chrome areas that need to be exposed. If you do this right after the paint has 'flashed' you can get a very precise edge. When I try to use tape I seem to end up with a slight raised edge on the paint which the original trim parts didn't exhibit. I've been using Krylon #1613 as Michael suggests.
As an aside, I also dusted a VERY light coat of #1613 on the control wheels which had 'faded' to a milky gray. The control really does need to be apart to do that though.
        Good Luck!
        Regards,
        Alan
