I am in the middle of purchasing a replacement convertible top for my 70. I noticed that I can get a date stamp for an additional $75. I understand completely the reasons for the stamp but this made me begin to question how much a "scoring point" is actually worth.
I don't have my scoring manual with me so cannot give an example of how much a replacement part costs vs how many points are allowed when it is judged. I am sure there is an "unofficial" average $/point when restoring a car to NCRS Top Flight status. Of course averages are just that...an average.
Certain areas are given more weight for originality so you would guess (not assume
) that to puchase those date correct items would be more expensive. And I am not even considering the labor, just parts. Also, a replacement carb for a base car might be less expensive than an LT-1 but the judging points would be the same.
Has anyone else ever thought about this or am I the only one with a slow day at work?
