69 Font Clip?? Install New Body Mount Cushions Before Install

Experienced Opinions. A friend of mine asked this question yesterday. He will be installing a new front clip onto his 69 convertible BB corvette. The existing front clip was halved years ago. This is a running, driving, nice car. No visible frame damage from earlier collisions. He is wondering if it would be a good idea to install new body mount Cushions and shims now before the front clip gets changed out. Neccesary or not? Or, should he complete the frame restoration first, and carefully set body back on the freshened straightened, if necessary, frame and bolt down body with new body mount cushions and shims. Then change out the front clip. Let me also state, this frame is very, very nice, absolutely no scale or rust issues whatsoever.
    Thanks

Dick C3 Corvettes from 68-72 do not have body mount cushions like the 73-82 Corvettes. The 73-82 body mounts are rubber. The 68-72 body mounting points have only metal to separate the body from the body mounting locations.

Some 68-72 Corvette owners have converted from the solid mounts to the 73-82 rubber mounts. A convertible 68-72 Corvette will use two different part numbered cushions and the coupe will use one of these cushion part numbers for all locations. The rubber body mounting cushions will raise the body on a 68-72 Corvette from the frame a small amount. Some information is in the archives on the change over.

Thanks for your reply. I have done a 57 , 65 and now a 60 corvette body-off. I did not know this and I assume my friend is unaware of this about his 69 corvette.
Still wondering on the merits of the original question and if it merits pursuing, if he does go with the update to the rubber cushions.

I agree with Jim in regards to the mounts. I have done a frame off on a 69 and I don't know what you mean when you say "Front Clip".

The body spacer mounts appear to be made of aluminum for a 69 and a new kit comes with shims to allow for body and frame adjustments.

A front clip is also called a front Nose. This is the front fenders, hood surround, front lower valance, headlight surround including inner wheelwells all glued/bonded together in a jig like factory. The front clip is bonded at firewall/windshield and forward door bonding edges.

Thanks, I never heard the term before. When I pulled the body off I left the nose atached to the body.
