The name "Chevy" (instead of "Chevrolet") has been on several Chevrolet small cars that are manufactured and sold only in Mexico and South America for many years; we just don't see them here, as they're not certified for sale in the U.S.

Interesting topic. I received a letter from my local chevrolet dealer today, telling me my 2006 Corvette may need service. At the top was a large bow tie and right below it was "CHEVY" in 3/8" letters.

Well what about the "Heavy Chevy" Malibus in the early '70s?

KFC didn't change their name from "Kentucky Fried Chicken" for text messaging youth market. They did it so they wouldn't have the stigma of "Fried" in their official name, since everryone is so health conscious while slurping down burgers and Big Gulps. They even tried marketing themselves as "Kitchen Fresh Chicken" afterwards. Notice how they talk more about their grilled chicken than their fried chicken these days? What a joke.

Chevy has been used in less formal advertising and commercals since the 70's....Here's a mistake...There hasn't been Chevrolet nameplates on new cars for years...just gold bowties front & rear which was used only on Chevy trucks until recently. Who makes these decisions? The emblem should be blue (with Chevrolet name inside it) like the vintage emblem ..similar to Ford's emblem which has never changed. Or at least a Chevrolet nameplate on the rear like before. They put a chrome GM emblem on every car on both sides (now deleted for 2010) but no Chevrolet nameplate(s). They just can't figure out how they want to present or label their product. They should take a lesson from Chevrolet's market dominace in the 60's and 70's with a stronger Chevrolet brand reference including historically correct blue bowties and nameplates. Not red (80's), and not gold. Another thing I don't like is the car front ends look like the crossovers...There's too much styling overlap going on.

And they still can't figure it out, product or plan. GM just mixmastered the entire corporate and divisional sales/marketing organizations, top to bottom, again today, for the third time since July, separating sales from marketing at all levels and re-naming all the positions.

Mark Reuss, the North American GM President, now has responsibility for all Sales, and pretty Susie had sales stripped from her job and now has all Marketing.

Brian Nesbitt, the hippie stylist who was a Vice President and General Manager of Cadillac (since August), has been shuffled back to Styling as an Executive Director.
