Can someone tell me what application the radio I have is for. The part number on the box is 993888. Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing that it has to be sometime post-1967 (the most recent radio catalog I have), where the series 986xxx shows up.

All I can tell you about it is that it's a part number applicable to some Chevrolet (as well as, possibly, other GM car or truck lines) and that it was discontinued from SERVICE in October, 1971. It looks to me like an accessory item part number, though, which may mean that it's somewhat "generic".

It looks like the Camaro, Chevelle, Impala radio from 69 - about 72 I guess. I know the 69s light up green and some time latter blue. Just wondered what this one was.

OK, but what makes a Chevelle radio different from A Camaro? Especially as a replacement part.

Is there a MODEL NUMBER on the radio, itself?

                Service model number 01APB1
                Serial number 1065276
                Product number 7313491
The instruction sheet 3973656 is dated 5-22-69

I guess I should have taken it out of the box first.
It looks like the ones in my 69 Camaros. Looks like it would light up green because of the colored band at the top of lense. But where the plug goes in it looks different from mine. So I guess it is a 70 if they light up green.

                    Larry is correct.
According to my 1972 Chevrolet Radio parts Catalog radio set # 993888 is a push button type specifically for a 1970 Chevelle.

Other 1970 push button type AM radios:
                    993882: 1970 Nova
                    993831: 1970 Pass.
                    993930: 1970 Camaro

Radio model number 01APB1 is applicable to all of the models I mentioned. I suspect that the difference between the 993888 part number and the other part numbers you mentioned has to do with things like knobs, installed lamps, etc.

                          Joe,
I think you are right. The differences have to be something very minor.
