I have never heard of someone repairing or restoring them (except dying). Because of the way they are built, it would be tough. New repros might be the answer. Don H.
If there are no split seams and the color is faded then you can spray dye them. The original hardware can be re plated and should be if it's not too bad. The repo hardware is different so re use the original if you can. Rich
You live in the Carolinas, if you get a chance stop into a shop that does boat interiors and let them take a look. I live 10 minutes from the ocean and at times over the years I have had various parts of my interiors redone in different color leathers and was pleased with the results. Good luck.

Edward, your suggestion about the boat interiors shop just gave me a "TaDa" moment! I just called C Fredericks Auto Interiors here in Charlotte who will be working on the convertable top frame to try to straighten it out. He has been highly recommended here in the area by several knowledgable people. They do indeed repair vinyl rips etc.
Thanks for the suggestion. Now I can take care of two issues at the same time.
