Thanks for the info. Not a retagged vehicle!!! Because of the lack of documentation it was never stated that this is a real L88 considering that there were only 13 coupes produced. This is claimed to be a Vintage race car with what appears to be have a plethora of L88 options.

Clem, I think the $300,000+++ asking price has something to do with it. I wonder IF a buyer did not ask, would they tell???

Hate to say this place is near me in NJ. But then so was the Glass Car Company.

Went there a couple of years ago to ask Q's about a 70 LT1 he had. Asked a couple of normal questions and was told they really didn't know much about corvette specifics . (other than to price them really high)Takes most of them on consignment

In his description, it states that the car has "IT"S ORIGINAL PROTECT-O-PLATE. I have to wonder what the engine code is? 300 HP probably.

I seem to remember a scan of the warranty book/plate. Did he remove it from the ad?

He's hoping a mullet will come in and write a check.

Maybe not retagged, but the engine pad photos certainly appear to be making a claim that it is a real L-88. My database shows that an AO Smith coupe A-0759 was built almost 100 vin numbers sooner than this A-0762.

It is really a disapointment that after all these years there is not a better data base tracking these faked up cars. 30 - 35 years ago there was a guy in Metro Detroit faking all sorts of these 68 L88's and the like, you'd hear the whispers at the local shows by the locals. As I get back in this, I wonder in 30 years, how many more fakes did he make and pump out?

I remember back at Carlisle in 1999, I saw this beautiful '67 Red/Black coupe with an L-88 engine. The sign on the car clearly indicated that it was a clone. It had a real '68 L-88 engine in it and at a casual glance, you could not tell it from the real deal and it was flawless. The price?? $70K, a steal by today's standards. Back then, if I had that kind of money, I would have bought it. PT

Does anyone reproduce the headers on the green car?

                    Thanks,

You sure do have to read between the lines in that ad. Somewhat deceptive for the novice buyer though. When you indicate all numbers matching with IT code, you sure sound you are are indicating a real car.

For me, this is the KEY line in the ad. For all you Corvette guys this one feels just like the ultimate Mid Year Vette ever created!
