63 frame date stencil or handwritten?

I know the judging guide says it should be handwritten in white lumber crayon, but I have seen an original chasis, March 63 car that had a stenciled date, similar to how the frame part number was stenciled. I'll have to dig around to find the photo I have of it.

Anyone else observed a stenciled date on a 63? I have a May 14th, 1963 car and although I photographed all the shim marks and part number stencil, I never did clean off the portion where the date was to see what was there and it was lost during sandblasting.

My early September-built '64 has a stenciled date on it. It reads 2-9-5. The car was built appx. 9/10/63, so I presume the 9-5 equates to September 5, 1963, but I am not certain. I am not sure what the 2 represents. Here is a photo of mine:



Here are two photos of another '64 that I saw at the Kissimmee meet last year. The stencil on this one read 1-4-30. The VIN was in the 17,100 range, so the build date was appx. 5/5/64:

Yes, the photo I have is very similar. Two digits for the date make sense, the third, does not. I havent found the photo yet, but I remember.
