    Casting Number ID

    Need help. This person wants to sell me an engine that he says is a 283. The casting # (according to him) is # 8896944. Hopefully he is reading it wrong and it is #3896944.

    Can anyone tell me what this casting # represents?

      I would bet the farm he is reading it wrong.
      3896944 is 1967 Chevelle and passenger car 283ci, 195 HP, 2-bolt main block.
