Can you check and see if your wiper switch design looks like this one with out vacuum lines , the pic. is not good but the best I have . Goes along with this pump design
thanks
It was in a box with the rest of the dash parts with the little washer stop missing. So it could be from a 54. Next time I hear from Ray I'll ask him what 08 has....bj
roy, are the bezels different on these switches? can a 55 bezel fit on a 53-54 style switch? if bezels are different this might be a good way of telling which switch is in use without removing knob or crawling underneath dash.
having found a better set of pictures i see the bezels are the same! plenty of the switch with vacuum lines are available. of coarse, no leads on 55 style.
Looking at so many wiper switches on e-bay they ALL say for 53 to 55 , they may not know 55 is different and if they saw a 55 would think it was for some other car. I remember that early 53 use a foot pump also, so the switch should be the same.
that early 53 foot pedal is the one that resembles the later 55 foot pedal. i purchased one thinking it was a 55 pedal. should have noticed that the assembly on the 53 is much longer(appr. one inch). it is very impessive that you would put these two switches(early 53 and 55) together as possibly being the same part! in the new judging guide is this switch mentioned for the first 180 cars?
Noland's book say 53 used the foot pump up to 176 or so!! I cover the 55 only ( that's my thing) , others cover the 53 to 54 .Your 55 have the lower shroud piece that's screwed to the four piece radiator shroud where the two holes are? That few know about (shrouding is a FIVE piece unit)
