    62 radiator question

years ago i got a NORS harrison radiator for our 62. as most are aware, the service replacement harrisons had a stamped aluminum upper inlet, whereas original inlets were cast aluminum. in the past, i've removed the incorrect stamped inlet and had a buddy weld a used original cast inlet on a service replacement harrison. i went to the barn today to get my bucket of original cast outlets and i see my three cast 62 style inlets have different alphanumerics cast into their body. all three are cast part numbered 3150896 as they shoud be BUT the alpha numerics are as follows: 11/65 for the first housing, D 12 9 for the second inlet housing and lastly, D5 5 . anybody know the meanings of the alpha numerics. i suppose the 11/65 could be nov of 65 and hence a service replacement harrison that was built when the cast inlets were still available to harrison. however, the D5 5 and the D 12 9 are confusing. your thoughts? thanks, mike

Mike, Mine has D 0219 and 3150396 on the neck. Not sure if the second 3 is a 3 or an 8.

john: casting # on all three inlets are 3150896 so i suspect you've mi-read the 5th digit. i see the radiator itself is dated april of 62. is it the original radiator or a dewitt replacement? thanks, mike

Mike, It's a Dewitt's. Just love it. Flashlight and bifocals don't always get the correct number upside down. You are correct with your numbers.

Looks like you should leave you favorite one of the three in the drawer with your diegrinder and let the Christmas elfs work it over for you..
