Re: 62 Corvette #2582
I may have this wrong I've done it before. He says the numbers are "As far as I can tell it says 2102528 F1104RD."
Looking in the 3rd edition birthday book, it looks like '62 #2528 was built on or about November 8-9th of '61. From the numbers he states it looks this engine was built November the 4th then shipped to St. Louis and installed in #2528 all within a 4 to 5 day span. Or give it 1 more day if the vin is 2582.
Have I got it wrong? Seems a tad short to me.- Top

Re: 62 Corvette #2582
Oops, he did say #2528, not 2582. I am assuming he can read better than I can.
Assembly on 11/4, ship to St. Louis on 11/5, get to assembly line on 11/6, goes into car 11/8 or 11/9.
Yeah, it is tight, but it works.Last edited by Edward M.; December 2, 2009, 03:52 PM.- Top

Re: 62 Corvette #2582
1962 #0052 has a third member that was cast H 9 1 and assembled 8-15. Conversations with Jack Knudsen many years ago indicated the build of this car started on 8-18 and finished on 8-21. The next to last car completed on that day. So just a few days is not out of the realm of possibility.David Dawdy- Top
