Hello All, I'm looking for some good pics of a NCRS restored rear suspension.I am currently restoring the rear. Everything was painted black. I have the manual with finishes. How can you duplicate some of the original finishes? Thank You, Tom

Re: 70 Rear Suspension
Try this approach: (1) Pick a specific item for restoration, (2) Search for related material in the archives and published reference books, (3) If you still have a specific question, ask it here. Answers to even specific questions can be quite detailed.- Top

Re: 70 Rear Suspension
Replicating the factory appearance of a small block half shaft is almost impossible as the original part is uncoated, unpainted (ie. bare) seamless steel tubing. Any sort of blasted or coated surface would not be correct.- Top

Re: 70 Rear Suspension
Why not look for an original, well preserved, 1970 to emulate? That way you will avoid the mistakes of others. Copying a reproduction will produce a copy of a copy -- not exactly the best situation.Terry- Top

Re: 70 Rear Suspension
when i am done with a car we all get together and pre judge the car prior to taking it to get judged. after we all pick it apart i change the little things like that. hopefully someone would have caught that. now that i know i can change them out one at the time with little effort. thanks for the heads up. thats why i am on here.- Top

Re: 70 Rear Suspension
Even if there was black phosphate remaining, it would not have survived the cleaning those bolts had to get. Chassis parts with that much rust are easily assumed to be natural rather than finished.
My car didn't look that rough and it had never seen the inside of a barn.- Top
