    Secondary Carburetor Bowl

I am trying to figure out if this secondary bowl could be original to my 3810 holley. It came with the carburetor but I don't have a clue why the bottom is like this.

This bowl is for the non adjustable floats like 3810. Any help is appreciated..

    Tim,

I don't think that secondary bowl is original to your 3810, but I could be wrong.

I have three 3810 secondary bowls and one off of a 3918 (68 Plymouth-Cryl-Dodge 440) which share the same Holley part number of 34R-5972A.
None of them have the boss on the bottom of the bowl and the boss on the side that says "Holley".

I do have a 3139-1 for a 65-66 396 chevelle/chev passenger car which has identical bosses to the one in your picture, but it has the adjustable float screws and the sight hole for float level on the side.

Maybe take a close look at the side for a filled in sight hole. A 67 non-adjustable bowl can be easily made from an earlier bowl by just capping the adjustment screw hole and filling in the sight hole. The number cast inside is the same (34R-2460) whether it is a 67 non-adjustable bowl or an earlier adjustable bowl with the bottom boss.

Wonder what the reason is for that bottom boss and the side boss. Maybe Clem knows.

i have no idea what the bottom projection is for as i have never seen anything done with it. it could be a locating point to fit in the fixture when they machine the bowls for the needle/seat. my contact at holley has retired so i no longer have a inside connection there to get any info.
