    1967 Brake Caliper Paint Daubs

Hello, I am restoring my 67 427 conv. I have looked at quite a few different pics of "correctly" restored chassis with and without any paint daubs on the brake calipers. I am at the point to either add paint daubs or not and any info on what would be correct for my car would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jeff Meadows

I'm not a judge, so I can't head you in the right direction for more points, but my car has the original calipers and the paint daubs I've seen on restored cars is far too neat compared to what is on mine. There are long paint drips that go almost to the bottom of the caliper. I have a couple of photos that I will try to find and post, though I haven't been able to find them after a bit of searching.

Thanks Robert, Any pics would help. If you have an original car with paint daubs that is a good starting point for me. Are they blue and white Daubs. Thanks Again, Jeff

Jeff -- does the '67 TIM&JG really call for paint daubs ? The '65 does not; not sure about '66.

Here's a link from about 10 months ago, showing the inboard halves of the rear calipers off a real late '65 and another early '66.

I always thought they meant something other than just an inspection mark, like an interim change.

          Jeff -

There are no "typical" paint daubs on all '67 calipers, and judges won't expect to see any. I'd leave them alone.

here is an attempt at attaching photos of the LH Rear and RH rear. You can see traces of white paint on one of the piston areas and the blue in between them.
