How many years were the Halibrands and AC 8000 RPM Tachs in the parts books? I know the AC was available OTC in '65. How many Halibrands and AC Tachs were sold thru parts (records probably not kept)?
I have an original dealer parts manual dated Oct 1, 1963. AC 8000 RPM tach part # 1548680 is listed for $35.51. However, the axles you mentioned are not listed. Hope this helps.

The tach is $33.51 in my April 1, 1960 parts manual. There is no reference to the Halibrand wheels, axles, knock off nut or any related parts in this maunal.
Thanks guys! Tom, in early '65 I asked Charlie Capp to price the AC 8000 RPM Tach for me and I thought it was so expensive I passed and kept the Sun in! Williard Underhill didn't pay that good!
Tom, shouldn't you be at work???

I'm off on Sunday and Monday. You just needed to get better tips from the old ladies that you carried out groceries for. By the way, the nations oldest or 3rd oldest, depending on who you ask, Chevy dealer is now almost completely converted to a NAPA store and service center. Thanks GM for respecting your history.
Can someone please elaborate on the parts books you are referring to. Are these the overall Chevy parts books for their entire range, just Corvette specific parts book(s), or an assessory parts book? Thanks and please excuse the ignorance of a young'n.
George,
I don't know exactly the year of the change. But I have a 66 parts book and a 66 Illustration book. The Parts book is ONLY a parts listing-------no illustrations, and it includes all Chevy products. The 66 illustration book is only illustrations. You look up the "picture" in the illustration book, then go to the Parts book to look up the part number.
Then, I have a 70 Corvette specific parts book that ONLY contains Corvette illustrations AND parts. The front of each section (Engine, Fuel, Elec, etc) contains the illustrations, then the remainder of the section is the parts listing.
So, I am guessing that sometime between 66 and 70 is when the parts books changed from ALL models in one book to SEPERATE books for each model.
I also have a 29-59 all inclusive parts book and a 55-64 all inclusive parts book, as well as individual years of Corvette books from 75-84 (I could care less about later years).
All of my books are WORKING books with well worn pages, tears, greasy finger prints, etc. But they contain LOTS of valuable information.
