Deck lid dog bone foam cushions

Does anyone know where I can buy tan foam cushions for inside of the deck lid? Black foam parts are readily available but my 54 came with tan and I'd like to use that color.

Interesting thought. I'll look in rubber catalogs and see if I can find tan. Probably have to buy enough sheet to outfit a hundred cars though. But no one sells this part tan?

If you have a furniture (or auto interior) upholsterer, they will have many different colors/types

Here is why we need a new JM for 53-55. The JM don't mention that tan color lid protectors along with tan color hold down straps were used on certain colors .Repro's only come in black.( you cant buy tan) I've had judges ask me why mine were tan and not black and I told them because the Corvette is copper! And while I'm at it I also have been told my headlights ant original because there not a tin back because they cant see the inner bulb.

I found some 3mm thick light tan sheet foam on a web site and ordered enough to make maybe 4 pairs for $6.50. I will be interested to see if the foam is rubbery enough to match the original. Color looks good from what I can tell. Original is 2.5mm thick but a bit more thickness would improve the padding and is not detectable.

just for the record 56 "early" cars also had them, at least 56 # 11 did.

Tan was used on blue, red, copper and this original yellow Corvette along with tan soft top holding straps. Only white used black and there the only ones repro'ed not tan cushions or straps .Jim! right also early 56's. of different colors but white?Early 56 has a lot of 55 characteristics Some day the 55 JM will cover this.

Roy beat me to the punch with a photo. Which is fine with me. Here's my photo.

The left one in the photo is the top side and the right one is the underside. They almost came off intact.

There you have it for the record.

It will be interesting to see how close the foam I ordered is to the original. I'm getting enough to make about 4 sets if anyone needs some. I'll keep you advised when the foam arrives if its correct enough to use.
