    Parts Headaches

Well, I've spent a good deal of the last 3 days cleaning out my "parts holding area", inventorying/cataloging each of the parts, and getting them stored away by group number in my parts "warehouse". I just finished and I'm so sick of all the time and effort I spent, I'm making a promise to myself to acquire no more parts I don't need. My head is just spinning. Besides, the "warehouse" is full. I had one heck of a time just "cramming in" these. These parts have been collecting in my "holding area" for quite some time now. It turns out there were 317 GM part numbers and 1,153 individual parts. So, now my collection is up to about 15,500 parts and it's just not going to get much bigger!

I did find a bunch of interesting items in the parts I went through, though. I'll describe and post photos of several in subsequent posts. As always, none of these items are for sale, but I present them here simply for edification purposes.

    Re: Parts Headaches

    Hi Joe,
It's amusing that 2 causes can give the same symptom. Most folks headaches are from too few parts (or missing one in particular) while your cause is just the opposite!
Does having these parts stored in a more orderly fashion give some relief?
    Regards,
    Alan

    Thanks for the pictures.

Joe.....that's an unbelievable collection. Now you need to publish a picture book of your inventory for us to purchase through the NCRS Store.....

You could call it "JL's Part's Department"

              Joe,

Any truth to the rumor that you are negotiating to lease the closing NUMMI assembly plant there in Fremont for a month next spring?

Is this collection limitted to any years? Corvette only?

                  Brian-----

It started 35+ years ago as just obtaining spares for my 1969. Of course, many of the 1969 parts also are applicable to other years. Later, after I'd purchased almost everything I wanted for the 69, I "branched out" and started acquiring parts for 70-72 C3's and, generally, parts for 63-82 Corvettes. I never really got into any C1 parts, though, and have very few.

After I bought my 1992 in late 1991, "history repeated itself". I started acquiring C4 stuff, but pretty much only stuff applicable to the 1992 model year. C4's are so "part rich" that I could not expand beyond the 1992 model year or I'd have to rent a 5,000 square foot warehouse to store it all. Plus, many C4 parts are (mostly WERE) VERY expensive

I have essentially no parts for other GM cars (except, of course, those used on Corvette as well as other Chevrolets).
