    Tony Conigliaro's C3?

The current thread on Bob Gibson reminded me of an underlying project I've always had and that's finding one of the Corvettes owned by Tony Conigliaro, the star Boston Red Sox outfielder from the 60's whose life took tragic turns until his premature death.

I put my hand on one of his early C3 cars, I believe a 68 or 69 as he left Fenway Park one night. He had a couple, I think, as well as a red midyear. I believe he was living in Nahant, Mass, when he passed.

    Any leads out there?

I remember Tony C well. I also remember this pic and thread over on the Forum . He was a terrific power hitter but was never the same after the beaning and ultimately died too young from a heart attack. He also made a brief foray into the music industry. Remember his car song?

Info on Tony C's singing career:

Issued on Penney and Conigliaro's own Penn Tone label, "Playing the Field" quickly sold out its 15,000-copy pressing and after the follow-up, "Play Our Song," proved equally successful, Conigliaro signed a 25,000-dollar recording contract with RCA, which reissued "Playing the Field" in the spring of 1965. He refused to moonlight during baseball season, however, and in his sophomore campaign won the American League home run crown with 32. At season's end Conigliaro finally returned to the studio, cutting a pair of RCA singles: "Little Red Scooter" and "When You Take More Than You Give." Neither record earned much attention outside of the Red Sox Nation, and the label terminated the slugger's contract prior to the 1966 season.

I have the "When You Take More Than You Give" RCA 45, along with a lot of other Tony C memorabilia.

Can't believe there isn't a word on any of these cars.

I loved TC, but he was a better HR hitter than a singer. Chicks dug him anyway.

Here's a poor quality video clip of Tony singing (and brief interview) on the Merv Griffin show.

Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .

I thought the quality was pretty good for 1968.

Fortunately he came back to play in '69, '70 & 71 and a brief time in '75, even though at the time of that interview they thought he was done.
