I expect he's speaking of the balloon festival generally held in Albuquerque every October. It's a big deal in the area, and gets press in El Paso.

That was indeed what Dale was referring to......he sent some great photos, and it's very impressive.
Don't suppose you would want to mention target practice around there. (Although those wouldn't be much of a challenge.)

I lived there from 87-90 and used to sit on top of my house and watch them take off, amazing site to behold.

I saw a piece about the balloon ascension on our local news yesterday morning. I knew about it from past years BUT IT IS STILL AN INCREDIBLE SIGHT!
