    t 10 rebuild

    Hi Guys,

I am rebuilding my 61 Borg Warner Alum T 10 transmssion. I would like to find some information on how to properly put it back together. It was a mess and I had to get almost all new parts. I know there is something somewhere that will walk me through it but I could not locate it in the "Forum",

    Thanks,

    Jack Alexander 35730

Easy way is to use the ST-12 Corvette Servicing Guide or a 59 or newer Chevrolet Service manual. If you have ever done a Muncie, they are similar but with a couple of quirks regarding selective fitting of snap rings.

Jack, you didn't mention if you have ever done one before, but.....here's a website that might be of help:

      www.1bad6t.com/trans.html

I am going over to fellow member Scott Pfuehler's shop tomorrow, to have Scott rebuild a 1962 T-10 for me. I am certainly not trying to tell you what to do, but I would always recommend to a friend who has never rebuilt a four speed, to consider using someone experienced to either do the work, or walk them thru it in person. Just a thought.
Perhaps the website will steer you in the right direction. best of luck in the adventure. Ridge.

        Re: t 10 rebuild

Just finished rebuilding the T-10 from my 62. I had to replace almost everything including main shaft but it now works like new. I found a good source for parts "D &L Transmissions" from Long Island N.Y. They have a great selection of new and used parts for T-10 and Muncie transmissions. Darrel is the owner and his wife fields the calls during the day as he works. They ship UPS every night. I changed the sliders on my NOS synchros to their "torque lock" which are designed to help prevent the transmission from sliding out of gear. Check their web site. Rich

I recently took my 62 T10 to a local rebuilder for a syncro refresh as it was popping out of second gear. Flat fee of $225 labor plus parts. It turned out ugly...syncros...rebuild kit...2nd and 3rd gears and main shaft..( spline on the main shaft was twisted ) Don't be suprised what you find in there....total cost $1311.......Good luck.

            Hi Guys,

Well as usual the information was perfect. The website was spot on. I can get my hands on the Manual. I already got the parts fron the source suggested per a previous question to the Board. Thanks for the info and most of all thank you for taking your valuable time to help me.

My project is about a month from completion and I can't wait. I could not have done this without you.

            Regards,
