Does anyone bother with spark plug indexing? I have a 427/425 and want to get the most out of it. Is it worth the time and what would the best position of the plug be? I have heard tip of the ground strap pointed up and in the direction of the exhaust valve is ideal. Any thoughts or experience? Thanks.

Wow what a blast from the past, yes I used to do this when I was a kid street racing and trying to get everything thing I could out of my ride. What I will tell you is I don't think it makes enough of a difference to bother with. Its a pain in the butt and maybe on a dyno in the proper perfect environment it would count but in the real world nope. There has to be something you can find to make better use of your time. IMHO

Re: Spark Plug Indexing??
On our race motors we did this. BUT with the heads off the car before the season started. It is a PITA, buy 2 or 3 sets of plugs and get one that matches. If you have time, space to store plugs and extra money have fun. I'll never do it on my personal cars it was a real chore. Have fun!!- Top
