I`m hoping to help a friend with information on how to reset the Service Engine Soon Light on his recently purchased 1987 Corvette. I`m a C-2 owner and don`t have a clue on how to do this.

Re: Reset Service Engine Light 87 Corvette
Remove power to ECM for at least 20 seconds.
Easiest way to explain it to you, unless you have a Shop Manual, is to disconnect the battery for about half a minute. There is an orange wire with a black plastic connector (at least, on a 85 there is), near the battery, which powers the ECM. That's the one to disconnect. No probs with the batt, only you'll have to set your clock and radio.- Top

Might want to do a readout and find out why it is on. If the cause isn't corrected the reset won't mean much for long.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Chuck, Resetting the computer just to get rid of the light is not going to fix a the underline problem that may exist As Bill C. stated the problem will still be there, Unless someone was working on car and just left something unplugged. If you want to pull a code from the computer you can ground the Upper right two wires on the OBD connector under dash. then turn ing. switch on and will cause the light to start blinking. The way it works is each long flash is 10 and each short flash is one.(I.E. 3 long flashes equals 30 and 2 short flashs equal 2 -so this equals code 32)New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
