Sorry, I know nothing about these newer cars.

Very few bulbs show up anymore at Carlisle and like Jeff said only a few sell them and test them so you can see what you are buying. To buy bulbs for the price this guy wants not tested is like throwing 100 dollar bills off a bridge. I bought a lot of 150 NOS and used-72T-3's years ago and more than half burned out when I lit them up. I will admit that my four wheel hand truck went over a bump and four or five cases of bulbs hit the ground so this may have damaged them.

Wow! Eight or nine years ago, I bought a complete, four bulb set off of John Pirkle for $60 shipped. This was for two high and two low beams, all worked. Maybe I should sell them?

I'm just curious, did anybody ever tried to cut the back of a T3 burned light of (e.g. with a Dremel) to transfer it into a housing for a regular light bulb? Is this feaseable?

          regards,

The prices above are cheap for clear working original bulbs. If you have spent time going through Salvage yards trying to find these bulbs you would have a much greater appreciation for the work someone else does in finding them. Snakes, Hornets, Mosquito's. rusted together parts, burly yard owners.

One time my son and I flew to Nevada from St.Louis to go through some dry Salvage yards. My son thought the owner was a pirate and the yard dog just about attacked us foaming at the mouth.

A real father son corvetting experienca.

We still have boxs of T3's stashed away. During this time we also received the T3 blueprints from the GM supplier and some years ago I posted the chart that shows how to decipher the date code stamped on the back of the bulbs.

If you are looking for bulbs don't forget to check your local shows for Cadillacs, Chevrolet, Olds etc..they are usually priced less.

June 2004 is the date on that price list. If that is todays prices Jeff probably has all the bulbs people need bought off that seller.

I do not think this would work. I believe the vacuum would be lost and a vacuum is necessary for the bulb to work. Maybe others can give their input.

Only a Corvette tin back bulb can be repaired like a 53 to early 55 that is not a vacuum bulb.

I wasn't talking about a repair but transferring the body of the bulb into a regular housing for normal halogen lights...

AT Carlisle someone told there is an individual that is doing just that. He is cutting out the back and inserting a modern halogen bulb. He then replaces the cutout and has a working bulb with the correct lens. If this is true - good for him!!

Here is the new auction on the T-3 -- 72/73 Head light bulbs. Just thought if the addition of the other pictures would change any body's mind. Still no guaranty on condition.

After judging my T3's are getting stored and the halogens are going in my 1960. I think candle power is stronger than sealed beams. I might even opt for Zennon. Stewy

To Joseph Trylubec who posted comment about being able to decipher
the BACK OF T3's. Could you list this chart of dates etc. somewhere in
Technical Discussion format ? I really would like to learn my T3's dates.

Here is a T-3 date chart decoder list that I have. Good luck in deciphering it!
