Just purchased a 12volt test light. Not exactly sure how to use it. Does the main harness going into the bottom of the fuse block just pull out? Or on the fuse block terminals what do I test across?

John -
Connect the clip on the end of the wire to a known good ground, and use the tip of the tester to check for power; if the tester lights up, you've found power. Note that some circuits are hot all the time, and most are only hot with the key in "on" or "accessory".
I haven't used my new test light on it yet, been up in Austin to see Texas beat Texas Tech last night. If I don't get get any readings with it, has anyone taken out the fuse block and cleaned the terminals? If so, with what? Once you take out the two screws holding the block to the firewall does the block unplug from the wiring harness?
John,
Buy a OSOEZ wiring diagram from DocRebuild. It is the best diagram I have ever seen including things like fuse blocks. A absoutly must have for any old corvette.

John, great picture! I assume since there are locations for ANT, A/C, and BU Lamps this block was used for other Chevy and GM vehicles? Does a power window fuse go in the accessory slot?
Finally got around to using a test light on the fuse block. Nothing with the key "off". With the key "on" there is power to the Spot, Back up, and Radio terminals. Nothing to the Tail lps or Instr lps. What would I check next?
The dash lights are fed via an 18 guage wire from the light switch. The light switch needs to be on in either position and you should have voltage on both sides of the fuse.
There should always be power to the top tail light fuse. See if you have power to the red wire on the front of the light switch and the lighter. I believe both the fuse and the switch are fed from the amp guage (side with multiple wires)
I have power on both pink wires on the ignition switch and power on the pink wire for the lighter. There is power on the red wire on front of light switch. At the fuse junction block there is power on the 3,4,5 fuse slots on the right side (from top to bottom). No power on the 1,2,6. All fuses are new. I have signals F&R, parking on front, headlights L&H. Have new brake light switch and it worked after install, but now no brake lights, tail lights, dash lights, or courtesy light. Horn, radio, clock work. Not sure what to check next.
If you have no power on the top two fuse slots, they both are fed from one red wire (2D circuit) that is spliced into the main power feed for the entire car. It is the same circuit that feeds the light switch, so if you have Headlams, I'd check the connection of the #2 lead on the back of the fuseblock, (14 ga red wire)
