    1964 Interior Trim Codes

I am considering purchasing a 1964 convertible and have 2 questions about the trim tag. The vin tag is spot welded as it should be but the trim tag is riveted. Is this correct? Second the paint code is 940AA which is silver (the car is silver) and the interior code is 490DB which according to Noland Vol 2 is silver vinyl single tone. I assume with this code the seats, doors, and carpet are silver. What color is the dash? Also what do the D and B ECL codes signify? None of my other number references even have code 490DB for the 1964. I have not purchased a judging manual yet. BTW does anyone know why the 63-64 manual is $50 vs $30 for all of the other years.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

I'll take a stab at this using my new trim tag guide book.
940AA indicated St Louis roadster body painted Satin Silver as you say.
490DB indicates Silver Vinyl trim excluding Power Windows (A31) and Powerglide trans (M35). I don't know what color the dash would be.

And I will guess the 63-64 JM costs more because 63s have so many one year only features and 63 and 64 had lots of revisions and corrections to build issues and glitches it made for a much more complicated and detailed JM as compared to the 65, 66 and 67 JMs(?)

Oh, and the Trim tag guide says that all trim tags were pop riveted and VIN tags had all different methods of attachment from spot weld in 63 to pop rivettes to rosette pop rivettes. If your VIN tag is spot welded, I assume you have an early 64 production car.

      Jeff -

Per the "Trim Tag Book", 490DB is a St. Louis-bodied '64 convertible with silver vinyl trim without power windows or Powerglide. The welded VIN plate and riveted trim tag are correct. The 5th edition '63-'64 JG is more expensive because it's twice as thick as the previous edition, with much more detail information, photos, charts, etc.

        Jeff:

I have a '64 convertible (a St Louis body assembled on May 22) where the VIN tag is spot-welded to the Z-brace. The trim tag is riveted.
