    1990 ZR-1 Wheels

I am preparing a 1990 ZR-1 for an upcoming Chapter meet in Ca. All four wheels are showing their age. The clearcoat is coming off. Does anyone know of a wheel company, in So. Calif., that could refinish the wheels and re-clearcoat them. If not does anyone know of an OEM set of pristine wheels for a 1990 ZR-1 that's for sale.

A while back I purchased a second set of wheels for my 1992 LT1. I bought a used set off eBay that were, structurally, in great shape, but cosmetically HORRIBLE. I took them to the local Wheels America facility which happens to be close to me. They repaired the cosmetic damage to the wheels and powder coated them. When I picked them up TWO DAYS later, they looked like brand new wheels.

The original Corvette wheels were painted and clear-coated. The Wheels America process is powder coating although clear powder coat is used on areas of the wheels that were originally only clear coat. However, I would defy anyone to tell the difference. I set them right beside my near perfect original wheels and I could see no difference, at all. Plus, the powder coat is WAY, WAY more durable than the original paint and clearcoat.

You might want to look into this. Your SoCal Wheels America is located in Santa Fe Springs. Wheels America also sells outright remanufactured wheels. However, I doubt they will have any for your application.

Wheels America has been remanufacturing wheels since 1994. With over 35,000 wheels in inventory, we stock the most diverse inventory of original wheels in the United States. Our goal is to ensure our customer gets the correct wheel along with the best customer service experience.
