Re: 73's for sale at Carlisle

    Hi Bill,
    Some very nice looking cars.
A BIG jump for the 2 higher priced cars. Were they worth almost twice some of the others?
Do you often see the same cars yearly? Or does that have to do with the economy and a sellers sense of what $$ he must get for a car?
    Thanks for posting the pictures.
    Regards,
    Alan

The Red-Red four speed vert sold. I know this as he took a look at my 73 vert I had for sale in the swap meet area as a new project.

Nice cars, thanks for posting the pictures.

The last 73 that I looked at was a bright yellow big block car. No paint, no engine, just the rough body, seats, and dash. It came in a package deal with a formerly beautiful red 71 T-top coupe that looked like a pretzel. The guy wanted $5,600 for both. This was about 10 years ago.

I probably would have bought the first one if I didn't already have one. Totally loaded big block with excellent documentation. I spoke to the owner on Sunday and he was frustrated to be back for a second year. He's got a really nice car that needs very little, but no one wanted to pay for it. Seems there was a lot of bargain hunting going on because of the economy.

Thanks Bill for the nice pics and info on the '73s!

I have wanted to go to Carlisle forever as I understand it to be the utilmate in Corvette Gatherings. Maybe next year?

I favor the '73 vert red on red, but just can't do a auto in a pre-80's Corvette.

              Bill,
The Medium Blue / Black Coupe you posted first was also at Bloomington in the sale lot area.
Yes, a very nice car indeed.

              Pete,
My size 13 shoes was the deciding factor to go to the Auto trans on the '73. The well area was just to tight for me compared to the "Straight-Axle" or Sting Ray interiors.

                To All,
Has there ever been any discussion to put the 1973 model in its own category like 1967s?
After all, even Larry Shinoda said the '73 was how the earlier Shark cars were supposed to look.

I agree. '73 is a unique year, with a number of Corvette firsts and lasts.

                    Bill,
After posting the comment, my first thought as to responses would be that some might say that the '73 -'74s fall into the same situation as '61 -'62s. Again, a lot of firsts and lasts, but not enough to offer distinct separate classifications.

Robert I understand. I have enough trouble myself getting in and out of my '73 at 5'9" and 210lbs. that I still can't figure out how you guys over 6' and 220 up get in and out of these cars?

As far as the '73s and '74s some may think they are close and similiar, but only internal. They most certainly look much different on the outside.

                        What?
Getting in and out (especially out) is all part of the fun! ...for my wife when she laughs at my graceful exit.
