Does anyone have a photo of the little foam air filter that goes on the TCS solenoid vent fitting? I can't find one anywhere, and thought if I had a photo of an original I could maybe make one. If no photo, any idea where I can find one?

Re: Foam air filter for '72 TCS solenoid
Here's an old pic of mine that is on file. I would be happy to take and post a more recent and detailed pic if you need.
I researched some originals, then crafted this one. Not sure as to the "correctness" of it. Hopefully, someone will comment. It's passed judging twice so far without a ding.Attached FilesDon Lowe

Re: Foam air filter for '72 TCS solenoid
I think I told you it's a bit too long.
Cut it to about 2/3 that length.
As an FYI, I buy the foam material like Don has in the PCV section of AutoZone. You can find one that fits, or make your own, for nominal cost.

Re: Foam air filter for '72 TCS solenoid
Thanks, Patrick. You likely did say something about it in June when judging, however there are no notes on my sheets to document, therefore, it's escaped me. I don't recall the conversation, but I think it's a bit long too. It's easier to cut than to put it in the "foam stretcher." Can another confirm before I cut?
BTW, I think I have about $0.00 invested in this one so far. Frankly, I got the mtl from some packaging. Thought it looked right...Don Lowe

Thanks for the replies. I have some foam that looks just like that. I knew I could count on the board for helpKurt Geis

Re: Foam air filter for '72 TCS solenoid
My 72 went through Regional judging without a single comment on my home-made foam. Like Patrick Hulst, I believe the foam to be too long although I do not have anything to gauge it by other than how mine went through judging.- Top

It's definitely shorter than yours. The foam cell is also smaller, should anyone wish to get a bit more exact. I do not have a picture of it, but did look at it last evening.

Re: Foam air filter for '72 TCS solenoid
Patrick, the photo, and possible dimensions is what I was angling for in my earlier post. It hadn't occurred to me that detrioration may be playing into using surviving original parts as a model.
Thanks to Gary and you for the input and advice. I hope we've helped Kurt in his thread start.
I'm not sure exactly what I'll do to trim to a finish length just yet, but have added it to my "to do" list.Don Lowe

It "appears" to be a very similar foam to what is used on the collar above the transmission, if that helps.
