    Need Blue Certification Label 70

    Hi Guys,
Can anyone tell me where I can go to have a certification label made up for the drivers door jamb area.

    Thanks for your help.

Check eBay... there's a guy selling them.

The label itself looks really nice, IMO... the font is not exactly correct though, so keep that in mind.

Cost about $20-$25 if I remember right.

      Mark,

I bought a "Blue Lable" from Joe Puleo for $35.00. His email address is japuleo@optonline.net. I couldn't tell it from the real thing.

I had bought a label from ECS (www.ecsautomotive.com). Font was correct, the spacing of letters was correct, it matched my original perfectly.

          Hi,
I've seen the Certification labels for sale and I've wondered how the producer is replicating the VIN information and also the engine assembly date and suffix code in the lower left hand corner?
I believe that St. Louis used the protect-o-plate, is that so? The date and code seem to be just a PARTIAL imprint on the seemingly original certificates I look at; how do the reproducers mimic that?
          Regards,
          Alan

I am surprised anyone is making these if they have the vin # on them. Isn't that what caused Dobbins all his trouble back many years ago. Something with a vin # on it is looking for trouble as I remember.

Wolf, there is a wealth of detailed information in the archives. Typing "70 Certification Label" in the search block (click on "Search This Forum", upper RH corner) yielded this post and photo by Joe Lucia:

As Joe says, placement was imprecise...I don't have a picture, but on my 70, the label was approximately centered on the screw above the latch and about 1/2"-3/4" further outboard than Joe's 69.

There is no exact placement, like Chuck said. They are wherever the guy putting them on wanted to put them. I have hundreds of pictures, and the placement is inconsistent. I doubt any two are in exactly the same place.

                    Hi Wolf,
Here's a picture of the label from my 71, I retrieved it from an earlier thread and post. I was able to leave the label in place when I painted the car. As Chuck, said the position did wander a little from car to car, and I see that on 71s I look at also.
                    Regards,
                    Alan

                      Well said, Terry!

That question comes up with reasonable frequency on the DB..."Where EXACTLY does this sticker/stamp go?"

If there was an 'exact' or 'correct' position, those selling the stickers/stamps would have packaged instructions... Yep, most of these things are subject to human factors in terms of placement and getting it 'kind of close' to where known originals from that era have been seen is what it's all about...

Here's where the assembly manual shows it "should" be (View B), although as noted, it was probably only placed at this exact location on occassion and by accident!

I too got mine off a vendor on eBay. After wasting time and money trying to get one reproduced by a Printing Shop. The quaility was fine, equal to the OEM label and cost was around $20-25.

Placement? I put mine where the old one used to be. Somehow I stuck it on CROOKED! I couldn't believe it! After all that trouble and expense to get this label I messed up the installation. Well since I strive to do everything perfect on the Corvette I considered removing the sticker and starting all over, but then I thought: "Hey do the guys and gals at the factory always install the decal straight?) He.. no

So it's still there and I know of it being the only fopa on my Corvette. No judge has never complained to me or pointed out the the Certification Label not straight and deducted points.

I've noticed that practice on the majority of the parts also!
